Codes and Conventions of Newspaper Advertisements

Here are some examples of what Print Adverts look like, these adverts come from 4creative.co.uk:

Looking at these documentary posters, they tell me what the codes and conventions of the print adverts are.

First of all the most important part oof the print is the "Ident" which is the TV Channels Loogo so e.g the Channel 4 logo which indicates what channel the documentary is on. Further more the Logo is always on the right side of the print and near the bottom.

We also have one image that indicates what the documentary is about, so with our own print advert, we have to take into acount that our photo must coincide with are documentary so that if a viewer saw the advert they would get the jist of the documenatry from looking at the picture.

Also you can see that most of the main images are simple, so that means we don't have to go over board with editing our images because some of the most effective images are just a plain simple photograph.

Another convention is that the graphics that are put on like the title of the documentary does not take any attention away from the image thats shows what the documentary is about. So that is telling us that we shold have plain white text and make sure its small. Also simple text used and limited amount of text that is put on the bottom left corner of the print. The text will have the title of the documentary and the date and time, maybe the website for the viewer to take a look at when they get home.
